Strategy and content for the G3 2024 tour

Another great way to kick off this year here at Chime was working on the G3 Tour 2024 which reunited the original 1996 lineup featuring Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Eric Johnson.

 

Our strategy for this was all about fan engagement that celebrated the history and also brought them along for the limited 12-date tour. We crafted a super fun announcement video with all three of them, flooded social media with global media coverage, created a custom “Impactful Guitar Tracks” playlist with selections from Joe, Eric, and Steve, dedicated posts profiling each band member, showcased exclusive tour merchandise, and included throwbacks using archived content from the original tour!

We targeted certain shows that needed additional tour marketing support with custom ad campaigns and coordinated a photo policy at every show that fed us a regular stream of live photos to share as the tour progressed. We also stepped in and did hands-on photography for Joe’s hometown show in Oakland, plus closed the tour out in a big way with a full multicamera shoot of the last two sold-out shows in Los Angeles. Keep your eyes out for an upcoming G3 documentary film that ZZ Satriani is working on in which some of that footage will be used!
