Text Tumbler Visualizer
This was a fun visualizer tool to build! Below is a video of a screen capture of the home page refresh we just launched for the always incredible EG Conference.
Stemming from a creative idea by EG impressario Mike Hawley and designer Michael Rylander, we set to work building and fine tuning an implementation of an odometer-style text-tumbler to present glimpses past EG presenters and themes, tied around the idea of reuniting together for this year’s event.
Built based on the text-roller fork of the odometer js tool, we added in custom timing events with image fades and ken burns effect, then plugged it into Drupal. To make it even easier, adding new images and text pairings is as easy as uploading a new image to a folder on the server. To keep it fresh, each page load shuffles up the order, but always keeps the same start and end, and inserts a specific branding slide every 5 words. Topped off with good browser compatibility, iOS support, and responsive design.
