Album Release & Packaging Photography
Goal: Increase fan engagement across social media and drive awareness and sales for The Residency album.
The launch of long-time client Sammy Hagar’s The Residency live album on Big Machine Rock brought the energy to fans around the world of his Vegas performances that dug deep into the Van Hagar catalog driven by a stellar band including Michael Anthony, Joe Satriani, Kenny Aronoff and Rai Thistlethwayte.
Continuing our early digital strategy and marketing involvement in this series of Las Vegas residency shows at Dolby Live at Park MGM, we were thrilled to help bring the resulting album to life online. Chime developed and executed a multi-channel campaign to market and amplify the release, managing Sammy’s social channels, creating content and producing newsletters that captured and communicated the spirit of the live performances. Our team handled video editing, behind-the-scenes photography, and visual and written content that spotlighted the album’s standout moments – including live versions of fan favorites like “Summer Nights,” “Best of Both Worlds,” and “Right Now.” Todd Gallopo from Meat+Potatoes designed a stunning package for vinyl/CD/digital, featuring 20 of Chime’s Jon Luini’s photos, bringing fans up close and personal from rehearsal to the stage.
The rollout immersed fans in the experience – combining storytelling, short-form videos, and striking visuals that brought the energy of Vegas online. The results speak for themselves: the campaign drove 14M+ impressions and reached over 715K engagements, achieving an engagement rate 3x higher than industry standards. The Residency went on to hit #4 on Billboard’s Rock Album Sales and #9 on Digital Album Sales, with overwhelming support from Sammy’s passionate fanbase, the Redheads.
Through this campaign, in partnership with Big Machine Rock, we celebrated Sammy Hagar’s legacy, captured the magic of his live shows, and showcased the enduring connection between the artist and fans. In highlighting standout performances like “Summer Nights (Live)” and “Best of Both Worlds (Live)” from this sold-out run at Dolby Live at Park MGM, we delivered the The Residency experience to audiences around the world.

ENCORE, THANK YOU, GOOD NIGHT.
Released on April 25, 2025, “Encore, Thank You, Good Night” served as both a heartfelt tribute and a final “thank-you” to Eddie Van Halen, inspired by Hagar’s reflections on their shared legacy. Co-written with Joe Satriani and featuring Satriani on guitar, Michael Anthony on bass, and Kenny Aronoff on drums, the track reunited the lineup behind The Best of All Worlds.
